Renner Leads Pack To Split With CW Post

Stony Brook, NY -- - Garrett Renner went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI and Lee Reynolds earned his second win of the season as Stony Brook (13-10) defeated CW Post (4-12) in game one of a doubleheader Sunday at Seawolves Field. Post came back to win game two, 8-6, behind the arm and bat of Brian Mitchell.

Renner's double down the right field line scored Jimmy McCurdy from first as the Seawolves jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first.

Dwayne Whitaker had an RBI single and Bobby Ziolkowski singled home a pair of runs as the Seawolves led 5-0 after two innings and cruised from there.

Lee Reynolds (2-1) allowed just six hits and one unearned run for his second victory of the season.

In game two, Post used the arm and bat of Brian Mitchell to win, 8-6. Mitchell had three RBI and went the distance on the mound, giving up six runs on eight hits while striking out four. His single in the first inning gave Post a 2-0 lead.

Stony Brook bounced back with a pair of runs in each of the second and third innings to take a 4-3 advantage. Lee Lipschutz, Ed Murillo, Renner and George Kearnes each had RBI's.

Post took the lead for good in the bottom of the third with four runs on three hits, chasing Poltrack from the game. Mitchell's double to left center plated two Pioneers runners during the inning.

Stony Brook closed to within 7-6 with two runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Renner and a wild pitch but couldn't close the gap further.

Poltrack allowed six runs on three hits in 2 1/3 innings of work.

The Seawolves host Wagner on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
