Marie-Claude Ostiguy has been hired as the men's and women's graduate assistant coach on Friday, announced Gary Glassman, head coach of both programs. A native of Boucherville, Quebec, Canada, Ostiguy graduated from Armstrong Atlantic State (Savannah, Georgia) in December of 2000, earning a bachelor's degree in childhood education.
Ostiguy spent her freshman and sophomore years at the University of Louisiana-Monroe before transferring to Armstrong. Ostiguy played two seasons at Armstrong Atlantic, compiling a 53-10 record in singles play and a 50-10 mark in doubles competition. In the 1999 ITA rankings, Ostiguy was ranked #34 in the country. She earned all-conference honors as a junior, recording a 27-5 singles record. As a senior, she was all-conference in singles and doubles, posting a 26-5 singles mark and a 24-6 doubles record.
The Pirates went to the NCAA Tournament both seasons Ostiguy was on the team and compiled a 37-15 dual match record during that time.
Since receiving her degree, Ostiguy has been a substitute teacher in Boucherville for the past six months and also as a tennis counselor and coach in California.
