Dan Ferrin Receives Preseason Honors

Aug. 6, 2001

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Sophomore Dan Ferrin, who started all 18 games and set a new school record for shutouts for the Stony Brook men's soccer team last season, has been named honorable mention Preseason All-America by the website Collegesoccer.com.

Ferrin registered a goals-against average of 0.81 in his debut season with the Seawolves and recorded 10 shutouts, setting a school record for most shutouts in a season. Named to the SoccerAmerica All-Freshman Team, Ferrin also received All-Atlantic Soccer Conference honors. Ferrin helped lead SBU to its most successful season in the program's 37-year history in 2000, as the Seawolves compiled a 12-4-2 record and a third-place finish in the Atlantic Soccer Conference. Stony Brook opens play in the America East Conference this fall.

The Seawolves open their season on Friday, Aug. 31, against New York Tech.
