West Point, NY-- - Karen Hansen posted a 3-1 record at the Eastern Collegiate Women's Tennis Tournament, winning the second singles consolation flight in the season opener Friday and Saturday at Army. As a team, Stony Brook won five matches against teams from Army, Long Island University, Hofstra, Niagara, Fairfield, Providence, St. John's, UMass, Howard, Albany, UConn, Rutgers, Lehigh and George Washington.

Following a 6-0, 7-5 loss, Hansen defeated LIU's Anixa Almeyda, Providence's Erin Haley and Army's Ali Rohr for the championship.

In other singles matches, Georgia Bushell earned a victory at third singles with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 win over UConn's Barbara Schumsky. Deanna Ghozati defeated Lehigh's Jamie Fass, 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 at fourth singles.

Stony Brook returns to the court this Friday when it heads to the Quinnipiac Invitational.
