The Matchup:
Stony Brook (2-11-1, 1-3) looks for its second America East victory today as the Seawolves face upstate rival Binghamton. The Seawolves come off their second win of the year with Saturday's 2-0 victory over Maine.
The Bearcats (4-9-1, 1-4) come off a 1-0 loss to Colgate, their fifth consecutive setback.
Series History:
The Bearcats hold a 13-6-1 all-time advantage, but Stony Brook have won the last two meetings. The Seawolves defeated Binghamton 1-0 last season. Binghamton's last win in the series was a 2-1 victory on Sept. 16, 1998.
Scouting the Bearcats:
Binghamton has struggled as of late, dropping its last five games. The Bearcats havs scored just one goal during that span.
Stephen Bruce's three goals lead the team, while Michael Austin has chipped in with two goals and two assists. Ian Wendel has played over 1113 minutes in the goal, allowing 17 goals (1.37 GAA) with 59 saves (.776 save percentage).
Last Time Out:
The Seawolves picked up their first America East victory with Saturday's 2-0 defeat of Maine. Stony Brook's first conference win last season also came against the Black Bears.
On Saturday, the Seawolves took a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute on freshman Payton Webb's header. Stony Brook added to the lead just four minutes into the second half with a goal from sophomore Josh Allen.
Stony Brook goalkeeper Dan Ferrin finished with five saves for his second shutout of the season. Maine's Chad Mongeon had two stops.
Ferrin Remains Among Top 20:
Junior goalkeeper Dan Ferrin ranks fifth in the nation in saves per game with a 6.57 average. Ferrin has collected 92 saves in 14 games, the fourth-highest total in the country.
Spinning Webb:
Freshman forward Payton Webb's gamewinner against Maine marked his second goal this season. Webb's total of five points (two goals and one assist) is second-highest on the team.
A for Allen:
Sophomore Josh Allen's goal against Maine marked his third on the season which leads the team. Allen's three goals have come on just six shots, and he has one gamewinner to his credit.
Allen is also one of only two Seawolves to start all 14 games. The other is fellow sophomore Rob Yturraspe.
News and Notes:
Stony Brook continues its road swing with a visit to Albany on Oct. 26 . . . the Seawolves then return home for Nov. 2 date against New Hampshire . . . Stony Brook will also face Boston University on Nov. 5 in a match that was rescheduled from last week.
