The Stony Brook volleyball team (17-10) fell to the Maine Black Bears (8-16) in their first match at home since playing a school-record 17 matches on the road. Stony Brook was outscored 30-22, 30-18, 30-16.
The Seawolves' attack never caught fire in the match. Senior LaToya Byerly posted a team high six kills in the match and was followed by four different Seawolves who each killed three balls. Junior Tesha Harry leading all in attack percentage with her .667. On the defensive side, sophomore Abby Egan was the front-runner in the digs category with 10. Zub finished just behind her with nine.
The Black Bear attack was led by Kaili Jordan, Leah Guidinger and Carmen Gabriel. The trio each tallied 11 kills on the evening. Maine as a team posted a .340 attack percentage in the win.
The Seawolves are back in action Tuesday night as they welcome the Hartford Hawks to the SBU Sports Complex. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
