Stephanie DiBiase Named Conference Rookie Of The Week In Softball

May 6, 2002

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Freshman Stephanie DiBiase received America East Conference Rookie of the Week honors after leading Stony Brook to three wins over Vermont last weekend, the conference announced today.

DiBiase went 7-for-8 in Sunday's doubleheader with the Catamounts, including her sixth homerun of the season. DiBiase's six dingers on the year set a new single-season record in Stony Brook softball history.

That performance capped off a week in which DiBiase hit .577 in seven games with two homeruns and three RBI.

The Hamilton, N.J., native finishes the season as SBU's best hitter with a .338 average. She led the team in hits (54), homeruns (6) and stolen bases (20-22) in her first season with the Seawolves.
