After a strong performance on the first day of the Eastern Collegiate Invitational, the Stony Brook women's tennis team had a tough time on Saturday with losses in singles and doubles play.
Freshman Anne Cathrine Valle faced fifth-seed Milena Matijevic in the quarterfinals of Flight 1 singles, and Matijevic took control with a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
The Seawolves doubles team of Carmie Zink and Lauren Conching to the duo of DiBona/Pasay from New Hampshire, 8-5. Stony Brook freshman Ashley Ward paired with Army's Leah Gaunt in the consolation bracket of Flight 2, and the tandem fell to New Hampshire's King/Surpes, 8-6.
The Seawolves are back in action on Sept. 27 at the Quinnipiac Invitational.
