The University of South Florida defeated the Stony Brook men's soccer team, 3-0, at the USF Classic on Sunday afternoon.
The Bulls (4-1) took the early lead when Aaron Paroulek scored off assists from Brian Gil and Gabriel Salgado in the 24th minute. South Florida would strike again just three minutes before halftime, when Brandon Streichen scored off a cross from J.P. Pagano.
Stony Brook (0-5) could not manage to bounce back from the 2-0 deficit in the second period, and USF added to its lead in the 81st minute. Stony Brook's Ivan Perez tackled the Bulls' Hunter West in the box, and Casey Stump buried the ensuing penalty kick in the left side of the net.
Seawolves junior goalkeeper Dan Ferrin collected 11 saves in the loss, while USF's Troy Perkins had three.
Ferrin and sophomore defender Josh Allen were named to the USF Classic All-Tournament Team.
Stony Brook returns to action on Wednesday when the Seawolves play host to local rival Adelphi at 7 p.m. at Seawolves Stadium.
