The Stony Brook men's basketball team will aim to snap a three-game skid as it host America East foe Hartford on Wednesday night. Hartford (5-6, 1-0) defeated SB (5-6, 0-1) twice last season. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
BACKDROP: Stony Brook looks to even its conference record at 1-1 as it hosts the Hartford Hawks.

HEAD-TO-HEAD: Hartford leads the series 2-0 after a pair of wins last season.
Last year, the Hawks eked out a 80-73 overtime win at the Indoor Sports Complex. SB rallied from an 18-point second-half deficit and closed with a 15-3 run to knot the game at 69 at the end of regulation. UH used an 11-1 run in the extra session to cement the win. Pierre Johnson had 23 points for the Hawks and Mike Konopka had a game-high 24 points for Stony Brook.
VERSUS THE AMERICA EAST: Stony Brook posted a 5-11 record last year in its inaugural season of America East play.
SB is 6-17 all time against America East teams.
LAST TIME OUT: Stony Brook took a 71-48 loss at the hands of Seton Hall on New Year's Eve. After taking a 5-0 lead, the Pirates came back with a 17-0 run to take control en route to a 36-21 halftime advantage.
Stony Brook could get no closer than 15 points in the second half as it shot only 33 percent from the field for the second straight game. D.J. Munir led all Seawolves scorers with 20 points.
INJURY REPORT: Mike Konopka sat out at Vermont due to a back injury. He is questionable for Wednesday night's game against Hartford.
SCOUTING HARTFORD: The Hawks come in to the game with a 5-6 mark after an 88-84 win over New Hampshire in the conference opener on Saturday. Five Hawks scored in double figures led by Aaron Cook's 20 points. Jerell Parker finished with 19 points and eight rebounds. Pierre Johnson leads the team in scoring at 13.4 points per game. Parker is the team's best rebounder at 6.5 per game.
SEAWOLVES ICE: Stony Brook's has lost its shooting touch over the last four games. The Seawolves have failed to shoot better than 40 percent from the field in its last four games after shooting better than 45 percent over the first seven.
HE'S A BIT FEISTY: Freshman Hendrik Feist made his first collegiate start on Sunday in place of the injured Mike Konopka. The rookie set new career highs as he drilled four three-point attempts in seven tries to finish with a team-high 12 points. Feist is shooty a lofty 54.8 percent from three-point range, converting 17-of-31 attempts.
ON AGAIN, OFF AGAIN: The return of D.J. Munir has met with mixed success. He scored 23 points in his debut and then tallied only nine points against Lehigh. He bounced back with 20 points versus Seton Hall but then shot 3-17 (.176) to finish with 11 at Vermont.
HEY MISTER D.J.: D.J. Munir's 23-point effort against Hofstra earned him America East Player of the Week honors on December 23rd. He became the first SB player to earn AE Player of the Week honors since SB joined the America East last season.
POINTS IN THE PAINT: The Seawolves have struggled to get the ball inside during its three-game losing streak. In the last two games, SB post players have put up only 25 points -- 50 over the last three games.
SEARCHING FOR THE LOST ARC: Before Sunday's game, the Seawolves had hit only seven of their last 37 three-point attempts (.189). SB had been shooting over 40 percent from three-point range through the first seven games.
SB bounced back somewhat against Vermont, going 7-for-19 from three-point land.
ACEING YOUR BOARDS: Some of Stony Brook's recent troubles can be attributed to its rebounding. SB has been outrebounded by eight boards per game during its losing streak, including a 38-27 margin against Vermont.
WHAT HAPPENED TO JPK?: Sophomore center JonPaul Kobryn is going through the biggest drought of his young career. During the last three games, Kobryn has scored a total of only six points, dropping his season average to 7.9 per game.
ON TV: The Seawolves are now 1-1 on America East telecasts after Sunday's loss to Vermont. SB will be on television again on January 19 when it hosts Albany.
COMMON THREADS: Hartford's Wayne McClinton and Stony Brook's JonPaul Kobryn both played for St. Anthony HS in Jersey City, N.J.
