Stony Brook, N.Y. - Freshman Mitchell Beauford was named America East Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week on Monday, the conference announced. Beauford averaged 11.5 points per game in two outings as Stony Brook split a pair of home games over the weekend.

Beauford scored 14 second-half points on 5-for-6 shooting from the floor in the Seawolves' comeback win over Dartmouth Friday night. He scored eight of Stony Brook's final 10 points as the Seawolves rallied from 12 points down with five minutes to play. His steal and layup tied the score at 53-53 with a little over a minute left and his 22-footer with two seconds to go gave the Brook the win.

The rookie out of Christ the King HS scored nine points in a 51-48 loss to Utah.
