Stony Brook's only win was a 67-60 triumph at New Hampshire on November 29 of 2000.
VERSUS THE AMERICA EAST: Stony Brook posted a 5-11 record last year in its inaugural season of America East play.
SB is 9-20 all time against America East teams.
LAST TIME OUT: Stony Brook earned an 89-43 win over Division III Centenary College on Tuesday night. Patrick Spitler scored a career-high 16 points to pace the Seawolves while Jairus McCollum notched his third double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. D.J. Munir added 11 points and six assists in the win.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE: UNH enters Sunday's action with a 3-16 overall record, 1-7 in conference play after a 92-75 loss to Vermont on Wednesday night. The Wildcats are led by Shejdie Childs who leads the team in scoring and is coming of a 20-point effort against the Catamounts. Griffin Walker is the team's top rebounder at 5.5 per game.
ROAD FACTS: The Seawolves are 1-6 on the road this season and haven't won a road game in almost two months - losing five straight away from home. The only road victory came at Columbia on December 4.
SCORING SURGE: During SB's six-game losing streak, the Seawolves averaged only 54.8 points per game. In the last four victories, the Seawolves have averaged 83.5 points per game.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jairus McCollum's outstanding play was honored this week by the America East. The New Jersey native averaged 14 points and six rebounds per game last week to help the Seawolves go 2-0 and extend their winning streak to three.
McCOLLUM MAKES IT SEVEN IN A ROW: Junior Jairus McCollum is emerging as one of the most consistent forwards in the America East. He scored 11 points against Centenary College on Tuesday night for his seventh straight double figure scoring effort -- the longest such streak of his career.
During his tenure, the Seawolves have won 20 of 28 games when he has notched 10 or more points in a game.
INCHING TOWARDS 1,000: D.J. Munir was sensational against Maine, scoring a season-high 25 points -- his third 20-point game this season. In doing so, he surpassed the 900-point plateau and now has 921 career points. He is 79 points away from becoming the 18th player in school history to score 1,000 points.
CONNECT FOUR: Tuesday's win gave Stony Brook its fourth straight victory -- its longest winning streak since SB put together seven straight during the 2000-01 season.
FLU BY YOU: Stony Brook has been hit hard by the flu bug. On Tuesday, Mike Orfini and Bobby Santiago sat out with the flu. Last week, Cori Spencer, Larry Jennings, JonPaul Kobryn and Mike Konopka all missed time due to illness. Even coach Macarchuk was not immune -- he was sick for three days last week.
SAINT PATRICK: Senior Patrick Spitler made the most of his playing time against Centenary College. Spitler drilled five three-pointers en route to a career-high 16 points. His five treys were the most made in a single game by a Seawolf this season.
BIG "C" TAKES CENTER STAGE: Cori Spencer is becoming at force at center for Stony Brook. He has made an impact in the middle for the Seawolves and has scored in double figures in three of his last four games since being inserted into the starting lineup, averaging 14 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in that stretch. SB is 3-1 with Spencer in the starting lineup.
PROTECTING A LEAD: Stony Brook has learned how to protect its lead down the stretch. SBU is a perfect 8-0 when leading with five minutes to go in the game.
JEKYLL AND HYDE: The month of January was a strange one for the Seawolves. SB dropped its first four contests and bounced back to win its last four.
GETTING BETTER EVERY DAY: The Seawolves sport a 9-9 record after 18 games, a far cry from the 3-15 mark from one year ago. SB has put together three straight conference wins, the first time that has happened since it joined the America East last season.
CLIMBING OVER .500: A win over New Hampshire would put the Seawolves over the .500 mark for the first time since they were 5-4 on December 23.
It would also level the Seawolves conference record at 4-4 -- SB has never been .500 in conference play.
A BALANCED ATTACK: When SB wins, it is often due to a balanced offensive attack. Against Northeastern and Centenary College, four Seawolves reached double figures in victory.
SB has had four players score in double figures seven times this season -- it is 6-1 in those games, the only loss coming to Hartford on January 8.
SCORING IN BUNCHES: The Maine game saw plenty of points go up on the board in the first half with the Black Bears holding a 42-40 lead at the break. It was the most points scored and the most points given up by the Seawolves against a Division I opponent in the first half this season.
FEIST OR FAMINE: Rookie Hendrik Feist matched his career high with 12 points in the victory over Northeastern, scoring nine of his 12 points in the first half.
The freshman from Achern, Germany is a long distance specialist, shooting 51.1 percent from three-point range.
