Women's Lacrosse Edges Howard 14-12

Washington, D.C. - Marrisa Tractenberg and Danielle Werner scored six goals and added two assists to power the Stony Brook women's lacrosse team to a 14-12 win over Howard Saturday afternoon in Washington, D.C. The win improved Stony Brook to 2-0.

Tractenberg and Werner were outstanding all afternoon as each scored an incredible six times. The Seawolves also received goals from Stephanie DeGennaro and Joanna Katz. Tractenberg again provided the margin of victory for the second straight game.

Howard tied the score at 12 with 10:44 to go, but 28 seconds later Tractenberg netted her sixth goal of the afternoon for her second game-winning goal of the season. DeGennaro sealed the win with a goal at the 7:54 mark.

Gina DeNezzo made 12 saves to earn her second victory of the season. The women's laxers are back in action on Monday when they take on George Washington. Face-off is 1 p.m.
