The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team is back in action less than 48 hours after its win over Air Force when it hits the road to face Quinnipiac at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Stony Brook enters the America East matchup atop the conference standings with a 1-0 record while the Braves are 0-1.
Series Notes: Stony Brook has won all three meetings between the two teams. The Seawolves rallied to win a 10-9 decision last year at Seawolves Field.
Last Time Out: Stony Brook's tenacious defense spearheaded a 5-2 victory over Air Force Thursday night. The Seawolves limited the Falcons to 18 total shots and only 11 shots on goal. Adam Marksberry scored twice in a span of 2:07 in the first quarter to ignite the offense. Jason Cappadoro had a goal and a pair of assists. Jeff Slater made nine saves in goal to earn his third win of the season.
The Dynamic Duo: The freshman duo of Jason Cappadoro and Adam Marksberry has started to jell. The two have totaled 19 goals between them and Cappadoro has assisted on both of Marksberry's goals in the Air Force win on Thursday night.
Later Slater: Stony Brook netminder Jeff Slater turned in his best game as a Seawolf on Thursday night, turning aside nine shots, a few from point-blank range, to earn his third win of the season. The win dropped Slater's goals against average to 9.47.
We Were Only Freshmen: Stony Brook's newcomers have scored 22 of the team's 45 goals (48%) this season -- Cappadoro leads the way with 13. The single-season record for points scored by a freshman is 41, set by Steve Conlon last season
Pearl's Well Grounded: Sophomore close defenseman Kyle Pearl has been outstanding in his last three games. On Thursday, he scooped up a career-high 10 ground balls against Air Force and has totaled 22 in his last three outings.
