Le Moyne Halts Seawolves' Winning Streak

The Stony Brook women's lacrosse (7-5) team had their four-game winning streak snapped Wednesday afternoon by Le Moyne (6-4) when the Dolphin scored a 12-7 win over the Seawolves.

Joanna Katz and Marrisa Trachtenberg helped keep Stony Brook close throughout by each scoring two goals. Katz and Trachtenberg also assisted on one goal apiece, bringing their point total to three for the game. Stephanie DeGennaro and Danielle Werner chipped in one goal apiece. Jennifer Joyce tallied the remaining Stony Brook goal.

Tara Walberger did the damage for Le Moyne, scoring a game-high three goals and assisting on another. Colleen Sperry, Ashlyn Maguire and Liz Hewitt finished with two goals apiece for the Dolphin.

Werner again played strong for the Seawolves defensively, collecting a game-high seven ground balls in the loss. She continues her top-notch play on draw controls, nabbing a team-high four more against Le Moyne. Beth Arikian was close behind her with her four ground balls and DeGennaro, Trachtenberg and Sarah Hanover were one behind her with three.

The Seawolves return home for their home finale with America East opponent Boston University on Friday. That game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
