Five Stony Brook Seawolf baseball players have been tapped by the America East to be members of their all-conference team. Senior Ed Kull was awarded first-team honors for his work both at and behind the plate in 2003 and senior Mike Russo and sophomore Matt Devins were named to the second team. Freshmen David Wood and Matt Restivo earned all-rookie team recognition to round out the awards for the Seawolves.
The third-seeded Seawolves open the 2003 America East baseball championship against the second-seeded Maine Black Bears on Thursday. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start. The game will be carried live on WUSB 90.1 FM and on the internet at www.goseawolves.org.

The University of Vermont, after winning its first America East regular season championship, won three of the four major awards handed out at the conference's annual awards banquet Wednesday night. Sophomore shortstop Bob Tewksbary took home the Len Harlow award, given to the conference's Player of the Year. Senior pitcher Jamie Merchant was named Pitcher of the Year, while head coach Bill Currier was selected as Coach of the Year for the second straight season. Pitcher Greg Norton of University of Maine was selected as Rookie of the Year. All voting was done by the conference's head coaches.
