Despite taking an early 1-0 lead, the Stony Brook men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision at Philadelphia on Tuesday evening. With the loss, the Seawolves fell to 2-6-1 on the year, while the Rams improved to 4-4.
Stony Brook earned the 1-0 advantage at the 17:55 mark when Anthony Barberio found the back of the net off an assist from Chong Han. It was Barbeiro's second goal in as many games.
That lead wouldn't last for long as Philadelphia responded seven minutes later with a goal from Paul Ordway to tie the game at one.
The Rams picked up the offensive pace in the second, posting 11 shots to the Seawolves' six. Just over 10 minutes into the half, Philadelphia would take the lead for good when Frederick Douglas scored on a pass from Ordway to make it 2-1. The Rams would add an insurance goal with just under six minutes to play on a score by Franco Ruscetta.
Dan Ferrin made seven saves for Stony Brook, while Justin Hewins turned away four shots for the Rams.
The Seawolves return to action on October 5 when they travel to Boston, Mass., to open up America East Conference action at Northeastern beginning at 3:30 p.m.
