Women's Swimming and Diving Downed in Hawaii

Honolulu, Hawaii - The Stony Brook swimming and diving teams were defeated by Hawaii, Wisconsin and San Diego State at a double-dual meet held on the Campus of the University of Hawaii on Friday evening. The men fell 117-23 to Hawaii and 117-21 to Wisconsin, while the women were downed 120-20 to San Diego State, 124-16 to Hawaii and 126-14 to Wisconsin.

On the women's side, the Seawolves posted several top-ten finishes. Shirlee Manoogian had the team's highest finish, touching the wall sixth in the 100 freestyle. Alison Porteus had a pair of top-ten finishes, taking ninth in the 200 breaststroke and finishing tenth in the 100 breast. Hailey Lewandowski posted the top 1-meter dive score of the season, placing sixth in the event. She also fared well in the 3-meter, finishing in seventh place.

On the men's side, Nathan French posted the top finishes for the Seawolves, taking third place in 100 backstroke and joining Matt Hanson, Frank Schursky and Jason Ferrara to finish third in the 200 medley relay. Several Seawolves posted their top times of the year as Schursky posted the top time of the season in the 100 breaststroke, Hanson had his top time in the 200 butterfly and Jeffrey Chu turned in the team's top time in the 200 individual medley. On the diving board, Brian Leight posted the highest marks of the season in the 1-meter event.

The Seawolves will head home from the beautiful shores of Hawaii and return to action on January 17 when they take on Vermont and St. Peters on Parent's Day at Stony Brook at 12:00 p.m.
