Stony Brook Nips Navy Basketball, 80-78, in Overtime

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Antwan Hardy scored 19 points to lead Stony Brook to an 80-78 win against Navy on Saturday in overtime.

Stony Brook also got big contributions from Cori Spencer, who scored 16 points, and Bobby Santiago, who scored 12 points. JonPaul Kobryn scored 12 points and blocked five shots for Stony Brook.

Stony Brook (4-3) led by three with 3.0 seconds to play. Navy inbounded the ball to Corey Johnson who raced the ball up the court and pulled up to drill a long three-pointer seemingly after the buzzer sounded. The officials huddled and then counted the basket to send it into overtime.

The Seawolves trailed 78-73 in the extra session with 1:30 to go before Mike Orfini scored back-to-back baskets to cut the lead to one. After a stop, Hardy drove to the basket and was fouled with 14 seconds on the clock. He drained both free throws to give SB a 79-78 lead. Orfini came away with another big rebound on the defensive end to seal the win. Stony Brook scored 40 points in the second half, and they outscored Navy 9-7 in the overtime period.

Navy was led by David Hopper who scored 23 points. Matt Fannin scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Navy. Laramie Mergerson scored 12 points and blocked three shots.

Stony Brook went 26-of-69 in field goals, while Navy shot 24-of-71.
