Stony Brook freshman guard Antwan Hardy (Rockville, Md./Montrose Christian) was named America East Rookie of the Week on Monday. Hardy averaged 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game as Stony Brook split a pair of non-conference matchups.
Hardy made the most of his first collegiate start on Saturday by scoring a season-high 19 points, including the go-ahead foul shots with 14 seconds remaining in overtime, in an 80-78 win at Navy. The 6-1 freshman also added four rebounds and two assists.
That effort followed a 10-point, five-rebound, two-assist and two steal performance in a 62-56 loss to Rhode Island on Wednesday.
Stony Brook (4-3) is back in action on December 21 when it hosts Northeastern in the conference opener. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
