Men's Basketball To Host Wagner On Thursday

The Stony Brook Seawolves look to snap a two-game losing streak when they host Wagner on Thursday night in the first-ever meeting between the two teams. Tip-off is 7 p.m.

About the Seawolves: Stony Brook has lost two straight after a 66-54 setback to Hofstra on Tuesday night. The Seawolves are 2-2 at home this season and wrap up their non-conference slate with Thursday's game against Wagner. Conference play resumes on Sunday with an afternoon matchup at Maine.

Last Time Out: Hofstra used a 23-10 run over the final 10 minutes of the first half to build a 37-22 halftime advantage. Stony Brook shot only 32.7 percent from the floor for the game and never got the offense rolling in the 66-54 loss. Antwan Hardy led all Stony Brook scorers with 16 points. Bobby Santiago finished with 15.

The Rookie: Freshman Antwan Hardy has stepped into the starting lineup and has become an offensive force. The rookie from Rockville, Md. has averaged 16.3 points per game in three starts and has led the team in scoring in two of the last three games. He was named America East Rookie of the Week on December 13.

Gone Cold: Stony Brook's offense has stalled in its last two outings. Against Northeastern, the Seawolves shot 39 percent from the field and missed eight of 17 free throws. Versus Hofstra, Stony Brook shot only 32.7 percent for the night, 7-for-23 in the first half.

Hardy From Downtown: Hardy has emerged as the team's top shooter from three-point range. The rookie has connected on 15 of 36 three-point attempts for a team best .417 percentage.

Season Of Giving: Stony Brook was in the spirit of giving on Tuesday night against Hofstra. The Seawolves turned the ball over a season-high 20 times against the Pride.

Orfini Steps Up: Mike Orfini scored a season-high 10 points and grabbed six caroms against Hofstra. Orfini has been a force on the boards all year long, averaged 5.8 per game.

Hitting The Boards: In the last three games, Stony Brook has been prolific on the offensive glass, totaling 55 offensive rebounds. For the season, SB has outrebounded its opponents on the offensive end 113-89.

At The Line: Cori Spencer and Antwan Hardy remain two of the top three free throw shooters in the America East. Spencer is No. 1 entering Thursday's action at a .886 clip (31-35) while Hardy is third at .888 (20-24).
