Softball Bounces Back With 4-3 Win Over Appalachian State

Burlington, N.C. - Kristen Brust's two-run blast in the bottom of the first inning helped Stony Brook erase a 1-0 deficit en route to a 4-3 win over Appalachian State in the second round of the Elon Phoenix Classic. The win upped Stony Brook's record to 3-9 heading into Saturday's action against Seton Hall.

Brust's two-run homer in the bottom of the first put SB in front 3-1 but Appalachian State rallied with a pair of runs in the third to tie the game at 3. The Seawolves pushed the game-winning run across the plate in the bottom of the fifth to register the win.

With all four teams sporting an even 1-1 record in the event so far, tournament action resumes Saturday at noon. Elon faces Appalachian State while Seton Hall meets Stony Brook to complete the round-robin portion of the tournament. Semi-final action takes place at 2 p.m. Saturday and both the championship and consolation games start at noon Sunday.
