Softball Drops Two at Mizuno Bash on the Beach

Dover, Del. - The Stony Brook softball team dropped a pair of games at the opening day of action at the Mizuno Bash at the Beach on Friday afternoon. The Seawolves fell 10-2 to Syracuse in Game 1 and 2-0 to Delaware in Game 2.

With the losses, the Seawolves fell to 3-14 on the season.

In SB's first game of the day, the Seawolves fell behind 2-0 in the first inning, but tied it in the top of the third. Sarah Hoffman walked, moved to second on a groundout and scored on an RBI single by Jane Stein. Stein later came around to score on an error to tie the game at two.

Syracuse bounced back, retaking the lead with a run in its half of the third and adding five in the fourth and two in the fifth to take the 10-2 victory.

Angela Andrews took the loss and, combined with Christina Voth who came on the the bottom of the fourth, allowed 14 hits in the game. The Seawolves managed just one hit in the contest.

In Game 2, Delaware posted runs in the bottom of the third and fourth innings and that was all it would need for the 2-0 victory. Hoffman took the loss, allowing six hits while striking out two. SB posted four hits in the game.

The Seawolves return to action on Saturday when they take on Providence at 1 p.m. and Penn at 3 p.m.
