Hayley Durham was named the America East Player of the Week while Angela Andrews earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the week ending March 28, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Durham batted .688 in six SB wins last week, while Andrews tossed her first career no-hitter and finished with a 1.07 ERA in five wins.
Durham was unstoppable at the plate last week, batting .688 (11-for-16) with three home runs, nine RBI and six runs in six Stony Brook wins.
To open the week, the sophomore went 5-for-6 with a pair of two-run home runs, six RBI and three runs in a double header sweep of St. Francis (N.Y.). She followed up that performance going 3-for-4 with two RBI in a pair of wins over Siena and 3-for-6 with three runs and an RBI in a sweep of Iona. For the season, Durham is second on the team with a .394 batting average, 28 hits, 17 RBI, 15 runs and five home runs.
Andrews was outstanding for the Seawolves last week, picking up five wins including her first career no-hitter. She finished the week with a 1.07 ERA in 25.1 innings of work, allowing just three runs while striking out 15.
Against St. Francis (N.Y.), Andrews tossed the no-hitter, struck out four batters while walking two in the shutout win. She then picked up a pair of wins vs. Siena, throwing a four-hit shutout to go with six strikeouts in game one while coming on in relief to hold the Saints to one run on two hits while striking out four in 2.2 innings of work. Against Iona, Andrews picked up the win in game one, allowing one run on five hits in seven innings, and win in relief in game two, giving up one run on eight hits in 3.2 innings.
