Box Score
Burlington, Vt. -
Kristen Brust's RBI single in the top of the sixth inning proved to be the game-winner as Stony Brook completed a three-game sweep of Vermont with a 2-1 victory on Sunday afternoon. The Seawolves have now won seven of their last nine games to improve to 20-21 overall and 6-3 in America East play. The Catamounts fell to 4-23-1 and 1-7.
UVM took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI double by Kate DeForge. That was the only run the Catamounts would manage, however, as SB starter Angela Andrews (13-15) shut Vermont down, allowing just two hits the rest of the way.
The Seawolves tied the game in the top of the second on a solo homer by Hayley Durham. SB went on to score the game-winning run in the top of the sixth. Rachael Vogl drew a one out walk and moved to third on a single by Jane Stein. Brust followed with a single to right to score Vogl and the Seawolves held on for the narrow victory.
Andrews allowed one run on four hits while striking out four over seven innings of work to earn the victory. Andrews is now 11-3 in her last 14 appearances.
The Seawolves return to action on Wednesday when they travel to take on Fairfield beginning at 2:00 p.m.
