Stony Brook's Kristen Brust was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I Softball First Team, as announced by College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday. The honor also places Brust on the national ballot for Academic All-American, which will be voted on later this month.
Brust, a junior first baseman from Farmingville, N.Y., has a 3.3 grade point average in history and sociology.
On Wednesday, Brust garnered America East first-team honors for the third straight season after hitting .406 with 15 homers and 50 RBI during the regular season. She ranks 33rd in the nation in batting average and fifth in the nation in doubles per game with 23 in 60 games.
Brust has led the Seawolves to a 30-31 mark, 13-7 in conference play, and a No. 2 seed in the 2004 America East tournament.
