Stony Brook guard Antwan Hardy and UMBC swingman Rashad Bilal share America East Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday. It was the second straight week that Hardy has earend the award, his third time overall.
Hardy was again the offensive catalyst last week for the Seawolves, averaging 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and two steals as SB split a pair of conference games. Hardy scored a game-high 15 points and added six rebounds in Stony Brook's 73-64 win over New Hampshire on Sunday. Earlier in the week, he notched a team-high 16 points and four steals versus UMBC.
Hardy has now scored in double figures in eight straight games and led his team in scoring over the last five. He is averaging 16.2 points per game in conference play which is tops among all America East freshmen.
Stony Brook (6-7, 1-3) is back in action on Wednesday night when it hosts America East defending champ Vermont. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
