Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Stony Brook guard Antwan Hardy and Northeastern forward Shawn James share America East Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday. The announcement marks the second time this season that Hardy has earned conference rookie of the week honors.
Hardy has led the Seawolves in scoring in three of the last four games since moving into the starting lineup in place of the injured Mitchell Beauford. He had 20 points and five rebounds in a 56-55 win over Wagner on December 30 and followed that with 20 points and four steals at Maine Sunday to become the first rookie in Stony Brook's Division I history to score 20 or more points in back-to-back games.
He has averaged 17.5 ppg. and 4.8 rpg. over his last four games. Hardy also earned America East Rookie of the Week honors on December 13. Stony Brook (5-6, 0-2) is back in action on Wednesday when it travels to UMBC. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
