Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Stony Brook has been chosen to finish sixth in the America East Conference in a preseason vote of women's lacrosse coaches. The Seawolves, who finished fifth last season with a 6-9, 2-4 record, will look to improve on last season's finish in 2005.
Boston University was chosen to finish at the top of the conference, while 2004 America East champion New Hampshire is slotted to finish second.
The Seawolves, who return 2004 All-America East second team player Marrisa Trachtenberg and All-Rookie team members Carlee Buck, Jen Sandtorv and Amy Taylor, just missed America East tournament berth last season. Head coach Danie Caro and assistant coach Meghan McNamara have brought in 11 freshmen to the core of returners from last season.
Captains Annie Pugh, Marrisa Trachtenberg and Danielle Werner will help lead the team on and off the field throughout the season. The Seawolves kick off the 2005 season on February 27 for a non-conference matchup with C.W. Post.
