STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Stony Brook women's lacrosse won its fifth straight game on Sunday, dominating Campbell en route to a 16-4 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Seawolves pressed their advantage early, racing down the field in transition following a save from
Natalia Altebrando, leading to a goal by
Julia Fusco to open the scoring. Stony Brook kept adding to its lead with a pair of free-position goals, going ahead 3-0 with 4:59 remaining in the opening quarter. After being held check for the first 14 minutes of play, the Camels scored their first goal of the day to close out the first quarter.
Haydin Eisfeld got things going in the next quarter with a goal set up by a nice pass from
Isabella Caporuscio. This goal sparked the Seawolf attack as it rattled off two more goals in just 12 seconds, not even two minutes later. Stony Brook continued to apply pressure, making things hard for Campbell on both ends, tallying four more goals and holding the Camels scoreless, giving the Seawolves a commanding 10-1 lead at half.
Stony Brook opened the scoring in the third quarter, giving itself a 10-goal lead and starting the running clock. The Seawolf offense continued to roll, scoring four more goals, while the defense smothered Campbell, holding it scoreless, as Stony Brook took a 15-1 lead into the final quarter of play.
The Camels got back on the board with the first goal of the fourth quarter, breaking a 36-minute scoring drought. Campbell scored two of the next three goals, but it was far too little too late as the Seawolves closed out the dominating 16-4 win.
