Softball Falls to Delaware State 3-1 in Eight Innings

Wilmington, N.C. - A two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted Delaware State to a 3-1 win over Stony Brook in the Seahawk Classic on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Seawolves fell to 1-4 on the season.

The Seawolves only run of the contest came in the top of the third. Ashley Westphal led off the inning with a double, moved to third on a ground out by Laura Bradford and scored on a single by Sarah Hoffman.

Westphal went 2-for-3 with a run and a stolen base, while Hoffman was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Anglela Andrews (0-3) took the loss after allowing three run on eight hits and one walk, while striking out eight.
