Box Score
Spartanburg, S.C. -
A four-run second inning was too much for the Stony Brook baseball team to overcome as it fell to Wofford 9-5 on Sunday afternoon in Spartanburg, S.C. With the loss, the Seawolves fall to 1-2 on the young season.
Stony Brook jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning after Andrew Larsen doubled to lead off the game and came around to score on a Matt Devins groundout, but Wofford responded with four runs on five hits in the bottom of the second to take a 4-1 lead.
The Seawolves cut the lead to 4-2 on a Peter Milani solo home run in the third, but Wofford responded with a pair of runs in the fourth and tacked on single runs in the fifth, seventh and eighth to solidify the win.
Larsen and Tom Pennino led the Seawolves offense, each going 2-for-5 with a run scored while Larsen added an RBI. Matt Restivo suffered the loss, allowing six runs on eight hits in three innings of work.
The Seawolves are back in action next weekend when they travel back to South Carolina for a three-game set with the Citadel.
