Men's and Women's Tennis Ease Past Siena

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's and women's tennis teams cruised to victories over Siena on Tuesday afternoon at University Courts, as the men swept the Saints 7-0 and the women turned in an impressive 6-1 victory. With the win the men's squad improves to 9-6 this season while the win puts the women's team at 8-6.

On the men's side, the Seawolves were too much for Siena as they swept each singles match in straight sets with no player losing more than three games in a set. Tal Meir and James Carpenter double-bageled their opponents at No. 2 and No. 6, respectively, while David Kortum only lost one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

The women's team dominated play as well en route to a 6-1 victory, losing only one singles match on the afternoon. Other than the one lost match, no Seawolves player lost more than three games in a set as they cruised to straight set victories. Victoria Vovsha turned in the most impressive performance with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 6 spot in the lineup.

The men's team will be back in action on Friday at home versus St. John's at 3:30 before joining the women for action on Saturday against Binghamton with the women playing at 9 a.m. and the men taking the court at 12 p.m. The women's team will also face Providence on Saturday at 4 p.m.
