The Stony Brook University women's soccer team fell to Lehigh, 2-0, this afternoon at LaValle Stadium.
Stony Brook (1-4-1) goalkeeper Cindy Bennett faced 17 Lehigh shots in the game, including 11 in the second stanza.
Lehigh (5-0) recieved goals from Gina Lewandowski and Jennifer Fetsick, one in each half. Lewandowski recieved a feed from Daniela Molina and slipped the ball into the right hand corner of the net at the 9:39 mark. Fetsick netted the second goal of the game after after Shannon Lockwood delivered a pass and Fetsick tallied a shot from five yards out just over eight minutes into the second half.
Senior Danielle Lewis had two terrific chances in the game to tally a goal for the Seawolves. at the 24:20 mark in the first half, Lewis beat goalkeeper Julie Kafka and shot the ball in the empty net, only to have to deflected away by Michaela Pawlewicz and hit the post. In the second half, Lewis broke free on the right flank and blasted a ball past Kafka, only to hit the post again.
The Seawolves return to action when they travel to take on St. John's, Wednesday, September 14. Kick off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
