Washington, D.C. -
Michael Palacio netted a pair of goals to lift the Stony Brook men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Howard on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Seawolves stretched their unbeaten streak to four games to improve to 3-1-1 on the season, while the Bison fell to 0-4-0.
After a scoreless first half, SB got on the board in the 63rd minute as Chris Megaloudis slid a pass across the top of the box to Palacio, who fired a low shot past the goalkeeper's left side for the 1-0 lead.
Megaloudis teamed with Palacio once again just nine minutes later to put the game away. Megaloudis came up the left side to the top of the 18 and cut the ball back to Palacio, who beat the keeper with a shot to the far post from eight yards out to make it 2-0.
EJ Xikis (3-1-1) only needed to make one save in net to earn his second shutout of the season.
The Seawolves are back in action this weekend when they host the Holiday Inn Express Invitational. SB will take on Lafayette on Friday at 8:00 p.m. and Columbia on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
