The Stony Brook volleyball team fell to Maine, 3-1 (32-30, 28-30, 30-21, 30-28) on Friday evening. Despite double-digit kills from three Seawolves, the Stony Brook volleyball team falls to 12-13 overall and 5-3 in America East. Maine improves to 5-16 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
After being edged in Game 1, 32-30, the Seawolves rallied to knot the match up at 1-1 with a 30-28 win in Game 2. Stony Brook only managed to hit -.051 as they dropped the third game 30-21. Despite outhitting Maine in the fourth game, the Black Bears maintained momentum and closed out the match with a 30-28 win.
Noelle Bay led the way for Stony Brook as the sophomore posted a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs. Gulce Nazli Dikecligil hit for a team-high 16 kills and Morgan Sweany added 12 kills and eight digs in the loss.
The Seawolves return to action this Sunday when they host UMBC. The match is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start.
