Stony Brook Hosts Binghamton on Faculty Staff Day
The Stony Brook men's basketball will take on Binghamton on Saturday afternoon. It will be Faculty Staff day in the Indoor Sports Complex as the Seawolves look to snap their two game skid.
Last Time Out
• The Seawolves fell to Vermont on Wednesday night, 71-58, in Burlington. Mitchell Beauford netted 16 while Bobby Santiago and Mike Popoko each chipped in with 10.
• Binghamton defeated New Hampshire, 57-46, on Wednesday evening. Andre Heard netted a game-high 20 points while Mike Gordon added 15 points for the Bearcats who have won eight of their last ten games.
Versus The Bearcats
• Stony Brook holds the all-time series edge, 23-16.
• In their first meeting of the year in Binghamton, Stony Brook fell, 63-54. Mitchell Beauford scored 17 points for the Seawolves, while Antwan Hardy and Bobby Santiago added 11 points in Vestal, N.Y.
• Stony Brook topped Binghamton, 57-55, last year in the Indoor Sports Complex. Santiago scored 17 points and Popoko tallied 12 points in the conference win.
Pops is Back
Mike Popoko netted 10 points to go along with six rebounds, a steal, and an assist against Vermont in his first game back after being sidelined for two games with an injury.
Leading the Way
In the 15 games he has played in this year, Mitchell Beauford has led the team in scoring in nine of those games. The Vermont game was no different, as Beauford scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed five boards for the Seawolves.
The Halftime Edge
The Seawolves found themselves winning at halftime for just the fifth time this season against Vermont. When Stony Brook is leading at the half however, they are 2-3, including the loss at Vermont.
Tre's Contribution
Tre Cunningham, who was second on the team in field goal percentage, shooting just over 45% from the field, struggled against Vermont, going just 2-for-9 from the field. However, his presence was felt on the glass, as he grabbed eight boards, four on the offensive end to go with six points.
