Stony Brook Baseball Downed By New Orleans

New Orleans, La. - The Stony Brook baseball team rallied for five unanswered runs, but it wasn't enough as the Seawolves lost their second straight game to the University of New Orleans, 12-5. The Seawolves fall to 0-8 on the year and UNO improves to 9-8.

The Privateers wasted no time getting on the board, as UNO plated five runs in the first inning. UNO scored five runs on four hits in the opening inning and did not look back. The Privateers found themselves with a 12-0 advantage through five innings of play.

Stony Brook rallied to score five runs late in the contest, but it wouldn't be enough as the Seawolves are still searching for their first win of 2006.

Chris DiBiaso led the Stony Brook offense, going 3-for-3 with two RBI on the afternoon. Chris Sipp ended the day 1-for-3 with a run scored and one run driven in. Tom Koehler (0-1) picked up the loss, allowing seven runs, four earned, in three innings of work.

Giavotella was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate for New Orleans, scoring three runs and driving in three runs. Bryan Cryer (3-0) was the winning pitcher of record, lasting eight innings and allowing four runs, zero earned.

The two teams will conclude their series on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 P.M.
