The Maryland Terrapins used a goal with one second remaining in the first half to push themselves to a 2-0 victory over the Stony Brook University women's soccer team on Friday evening in College Park, Md. With the loss, the Seawolves fall to 4-2-1 on the season.
Maureen Dowling took a shot from left wing just outside of the box that found the back of the net with one second left in the first half to give Maryland a 1-0 advantage. Maryland added an insurance goal in the 58th minute when Kaila Sciascia headed in a Molly Dreska cross from the right side to put the Terps up 2-0.
Freshman Marisa Viola once again was terrific in goal, registering 10 saves against the ACC foe. Maryland outshot the Seawolves, 25-11, in the game and controlled the contest physically accruing 20 fouls.
Stony Brook returns home when it hosts Fordham on Sunday at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium at 12:00 p.m.
