Hamden, Conn. - The Stony Brook University women's tennis team concluded play on Day 1 of the Quinnipiac Invitational on Friday evening. Sandy Wijeratne and Erica Federgreen each advanced in the singles draw and the duo of Monica Myers and Victoria Vasile advanced in doubles.

In singles, Wijeratne advanced to the second round with a straight set victory over Niki Flach of Army, 6-3, 7-5. Federgreen outlasted Jessica Shurtz of Army, 6-1, 4-6, 13-11, to reach the second round.

In doubles, the duo of Myers and Vasile edged Diana Alquero and Paige Ford of Army,9-8 (4-0), to continue to the next round.

The Seawolves will continue play at the Quinnipiac Invitational through Sunday.
