Senior forward Ricky Lucas (Herndon, Va.) earned a spot on the PrestoSports honor roll on Monday after leading the Seawolves men's basketball teams to victories over NJIT and in-state rival Hofstra last week.
Lucas averaged 18.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in three contests last week including a team-high 19 points in the Seawolves 77-74 victory over Hofstra on Wednesday. He then came back to score a career-high 25 points, 20 of which came in the second half, on Saturday against Fairleigh Dickinson.
Founded for the 2004-05 season, the PrestoSports Player of the Week Award is granted on a weekly basis by the New York Area Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association. Each week, each of the nearly 75 schools that play college basketball in the Tri-state area have the ability to nominate one male and one female student-athlete, based upon their on-court accomplishments over the previous seven days. An esteemed panel of eight media members votes to select from the nominations the most outstanding player. Any player who receives any votes, but are not named the Player of the Week, are then named to the Honor Roll.
