Ricky Lucas was named the Stony Brook Athlete of the Week after he led the Seawolves to a 1-1 week in a pair of hard-fought road games. In the Seawolves 66-65 loss to Binghamton, Lucas netted 19 points on 6 of 11 shooting. The junior guard went 3 of 4 from downtown and grabbed six rebounds, dished out three assists, and had two steals in the game.
The Herndon, Virginia native was terrific in the Seawolves 56-39 victory at UMBC on Saturday afternoon. Lucas tallied 21 points, snagged eight rebounds, and recorded a pair of assists and steals in Stony Brook's first conference road victory in nearly two years. In the second half alone, Lucas shot 7 of 9 and netted 17 points in the win.
For the week, Lucas averaged 20 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals, shot 53.6% from the field, and 62.5% from downtown.
Lucas and the Seawolves return to action when they host Hartford on Sunday afternoon in a pivotal America East game. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
