The Stony Brook women's tennis team went 1-1 over its last two dual matches. The Seawolves topped St. Joseph's and then fell to America East Conference rival UMBC. The Seawolves are now 6-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
In the 5-1 win over St. Joseph's, the Seawolves won five of six singles matches en route to the win. After losing No. 1 singles, the women swept lines two through six as they held on for the win. Sandy Wijeratne won at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-0, Claudia Sanua won at No. 3, 6-0, 6-0, Brooke Flanigan won at No. 4, 6-3, 6-3, Victoria Vovsha won at No. 5, 6-0, 6-0, and Shaina Murugan won at No. 6, 6-1, 4-6, 7-6.
In the loss to UMBC, the Seawolves won two of three doubles matches to claim an early 1-0 lead. The duo of Sanua and Flanigan won at No. 2, 9-7, and Vovsha and Wijeratne won at No. 3, 8-4. In singles, Paola Rodolfi picked up the lone win at No. 1, 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 as UMBC rallied to win 5-2.
The Seawolves return to action on Tuesday when they take on Morgan State.
