Box Score

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Sophomore keeper Marisa Viola (Cutchogue, N.Y.) posted her third straight shutout as the Stony Brook women's soccer team tied the Manhattan Jaspers, 0-0 in double overtime on Wednesday night at LaValle Stadium. Stony Brook goes to 3-2-3 with the tie while the Jaspers go to 2-3-3.

Viola made 11 saves and has now gone 361:47 without allowing a goal, a span of over three and a half games. She prevented the Jaspers from scoring in the 87th minute making a save on Courtney McMahon's shot from six yards out.

She also made another great save in the final seconds of the first overtime, stopping another point blank shot from McMahon.

Freshman Morgan Sims (Ambler, Pa.) nearly gave the Seawolves the lead in the 83rd minute, taking a shot from the left side of the 18-yard box that Manhattan keeper Alicia DeFino saved just inside the left post.

Stony Brook's best chance came with just over a minute remaining in regulation when sophomore Marissa Shibley (Clifton Park, N.Y.) missed just wide to the right from about 18 yards out with DeFino out of the net.

DeFino finished the game with 11 saves for the Jaspers.

Stony Brook returns to action on Sunday, September 30 when it opens up America East play against UMBC at 1 p.m.
