Boston University Game Notes 
The Stony Brook women's basketball team heads to Boston for an America East game against the Boston University Terriers. BU is 8-7 all-time against Stony Brook however Stony Brook has won the last two meetings by an average of 13.5. It is the second trip to Boston for the Seawolves having lost to Northeastern, 82-69 on December 22.
Scouting the Terriers
Junior Jesyka Burks-Wiley leads Boston University with a 14.5 scoring average 7.2 rebounds per game. Long Island native Christine Kinneary is averaging 7.1 assists per game which is 6th in the country. As a team, the Terriers are ranked in the top-15 nationally in free throw percentage (.796, 6th), turnovers per game (14.1, 11th) and assist turnover ratio (1.07, 14th). Boston University has three players shooting over 80 percent from the free throw line.
Start Me Up
The Seawolves started the game on fire connecting on 10 of their first 12 field goals. After going 2-4 to start the contest, Stony Brook rattled off eight straight baskets on nine possessions over five minutes to take a 22-8 lead.
Ferraro Rolling On Dubs
Senior Dana Ferraro's 17 point-11 rebound game against Maine was the 22nd time she's recorded a double-double in her career.
A Career Night
It is almost two years to the day Ferraro had a Stony Brook record 23 rebounds against Boston University. Ferraro broke Ngozi Efobi record which stood for over 11 years.
Young At Last
Senior Aly Young scored 12 of Stony Brook's first 20 points vs. Maine on Wednesday. Those 12 points came in just 7:09 of game time.
Young, Ferraro Combine For 42 Points In 72-65 Win Over Maine
Senior Aly Young (Lodi, Calif.) scored a career-high 25 points and senior Dana Ferraro recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds as Stony Brook jumped out to 20-5 lead en route to a 72-65 victory over Maine at the Stony Brook University Arena on Wednesday night. The Seawolves pick up their first conference victory of the season and move to 6-10, 1-2 on the season. Maine is 4-12, 1-2 in America East play.
Stony Brook jumped out to an early 8-0 lead just four minutes into the game keyed off five turnovers from Maine. After a three-pointer from Tanna Ross that cut the Seawolves lead to 10-5, a 10-0 run helped by eight points from Young gave the Seawolves a 20-5 lead and its biggest lead of the half.
Maine started to hit its stride and cut the Stony Brook lead to just eight, 25-17, with just under seven minutes to go in the first half. After Stony Brook got the lead back up to 13, the Black Bears ended the half on a 12-2 run as they trailed 34-31 at halftime. Amanda Tewksbury had six points during the run including a jumper at the buzzer.
Tewksbury's layup with 17:35 remaining gave Maine its first lead of the game, 35-34. Two possessions later, freshman Kirsten Jeter (Elmont, N.Y.) converted a layup off a fast break to give Stony Brook a lead it held the rest of the game.
Midway through the second half, Young scored on a layup as the Seawolves stretch the lead to six, 48-42. Maine got as close as three at 48-45 with under 10 minutes left.
The senior duo of Young and Dana Ferraro (Middlesex, N.J.) scored 17 of the final 22 points to hold on for a 72-65 win.
Young's 25 points earned her America East player of the game honors. Jeter chipped in with 13 points including 7-8 from the line.
