Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook University's head volleyball coach, Deborah Matejka-DesLauriers, announced the signing of Sally Downs to a National Letter of Intent of Tuesday. A 6-1 middle blocker/swing hitter, Downs hails from Coppell, Texas and was one of 14 players selected to the 17 National All-Tournament team at the 2008 Junior Olympic National Tournament.

"Sally is a dynamic offensive player who should compete for a starting position right away," said Matejka-DesLauriers. "We are excited to have her be part of the Seawolves family."

The daughter of Kim and David Downs, Sally played for the TAV 18 Molten club team and was named the Blocker of the Year for district 6-SA last fall. Downs plans to study business while at Stony Brook.
