Kavitsky, Blumenthal Named Jewish Sports Review All-Americans

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Rising seniors Vicki Kavitsky (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and Kendall Blumenthal (Frederick, Md.) were named to the Jewish Sports Review College 2009 Softball All-America Team which was released in the publications July/August issue.

Kavitsky, who was also named to the 2008 team, started all 50 games for the Seawolves softball team this year. An America East All-Conference first team selection, she led SBU in batting average, on-base percentage, runs scored, hits, doubles and triples. Stony Brook's everyday shortstop scored 46 runs this season which ranks second all-time for runs scored in a single season.

An America East All-Conference second team selection, Blumenthal had a career-year posting personal best numbers in every offensive category. She had seven multi-hit and multi-RBI games including a four-RBI performance in a win over Binghamton. Spending most of her time as the designated player, she ranked fifth on the team in RBI, second in hit-by-pitch, fourth in steals and fourth in sacrifice bunts.
