Junior Ashley Headen (Alexandria, Va.) has been named the SimplexGrinnell Stony Brook Athlete of the Week after leading the Seawolves' volleyball team to a 3-2 record this past week. Headen was impressive both offensively and defensively, averaging 3.05 kills/set while blocking 18 total attacks.
Headen started the week off by registering 15 kills against Long Island rival Hofstra. She went on to guide the Seawolves to three victories at the Columbia Invitational, hitting .346 in four matches. The middle blocker came up big for SBU in its win over Columbia with 14 kills and seven blocks. Headen currently leads the America East Conference in attack percentage, hitting at a .316 clip this season.
