Stony Brook, N.Y. -
After scoring goals at Harvard and Bryant, freshman Berian Gobeil (Montreal, Quebec) has been named the first America East Rookie of the Week for 2009, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Gobeil scored his first collegiate goal and the Seawolves' first tally of the season to give Stony Brook a 1-0 lead at Harvard. He followed that performance with a goal and an assist as the Seawolves shut out Bryant, 3-0. He's tied with sophomore Wilber Bonilla (Brentwood, N.Y.) for the team lead in goals with two.
Stony Brook travels to Queens to take on No. 4 St. John's in its next game on Friday evening. Kick-off is slated for 8 pm.
