Sophomore Dallis Joyner (Norfolk, Va.) of the Stony Brook University men's basketball team was named the SimplexGrinnell Stony Brook Athlete of the Week on Monday after helping the Seawolves to conference victories over UMBC, Vermont and Albany this week.
Joyner recorded double-digit rebounds in all three games last week including a career-best 12 in the 81-69 win over UMBC on Monday. He also recorded his third double-double of the season (10 points, 10 rebounds) in Sunday's 67-61 win over Albany.
Joyner currently ranks fifth in the America East in rebounds per game (7.0) and is averaging 10.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per contest over the last four games. The Seawolves (14-7, 6-2 AE) are off to their best overall start since 1990-91 and their best start in conference play since joining the America East in 2001-02.
